k3b DVD burn speed adjustment -- where?

I have the k3b version that comes with Fedora Core 4.

With CDs, I can manually set the burn rate for the blank CD that I want to make. With DVDs (new video project), however, I only have two choices: "auto" and "ignore."

So when I copy a DVD I wind up getting burns at up to 16.4x which is too fast: I get a playable DVD alright, but the video quality is slightly, but noticeably, lessened.

How can I manually set the DVD read and/or DVD burn rates to something much slower so I can improve picture quality.

CDs are fine, I can manually set my burn rate, but DVDs just have 'auto' and 'ignore' for options.

Thanks,

moxieman99

The only thing I can find that may offer that possibility is /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/k3brc. There are several "user parameters" lines you could edit.

Hmmm ... are you putting in the empty DVD just before burning? If not, put it the DVD, wait 10 seconds (or better: put in DVD just before opening K3b, then prepare what you want to do) and then open the burn dialogue. Avaible speeds should be shown. Well, Fedora 4? How about an update of K3b and growisofs? What version is comming with it anyway? K3b 0.11.x? Version number is shown in the lower right corner.
