Java with FireFox/Mozilla

I download the runtime (I even used to link that firefox gave me after returning an unknown plugin error) so I'm pretty sure I have the right stuff... Okay, I install it. ran

./java_more_text_here1_5_0.rpm.bin

followed intructions and ran

rpm -iv the_newly_created_rpm

and it installed fine, I installed it into a directory I made called /usr/java/

Great! Now, when I go to KMenu>Prefs> I see 'Java' so I'm pretty sure the RPM stuff went okay, but I'm not sure(Note: that file runs, I can config the Java options, for now I left default). In firefox I made for that Enable Java was cheacked. I went to a site containing a java applet and got nothing(oh, yes! note that I always made the symbolic link in the browser's plugin folder). So I tried running /usr/bin/mozilla (the main mozilla thing!) and still nothing... Java also does not work in Konquorer(spelling?) but I could care less about that... I want to be able to run Java Applets in FireFox!

NOTE: If it helps, typing java and javac both work in the terminal, so I'm 90% certain nothings wrong with my Java installation.

Thank you,

Well, as per the instructions, have you created a symbolic link for the java plugin to the plugins directory of firefox?

and what if you type aboutlugins in the address bar? This will tell you all you need to know about which plugins you have installed.

yes you need to make a symbolic link from the java plugin into the directory of mozilla plugins.

although this will only be one link.

understand?

that works on slackware. I will post an appropriate suggestion later as i cant remember the path off the top of my head

also please try a

Code:
about:plugins
in ur address bar
