Have you installed the jre plugin?

You need to have made a symbolic link thus:
Code:
ln -s /usr/lib/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
For mozilla. If you are using firefox, you will need to make the link in the firefox plugins directory instead of the mozilla plugins directory

I hope this helps
Ian
