Japanese kinput2 in mandrake problems!
Hi! I am trying to install some sort of Japanese input system on my Mandrake 10 box. I have installed all the ja packages and have Japanese text support (I can see Japanese characters in all my applications and in KDE, my preferred X window). I also have it as an added language on my language list. Anyway, the input method seems to have some errors, and was wondering if anyone has any insight as to what the problem may be (for I am pretty new, sorry!).
I do this from the command line:
export LC_ALL=ja_JP
export LANG=ja_JP.eucJP
export XMODIFIERS="@im=kinput2"
kinput2 -wnn -xim &
After I do the last line, it comes up with the following error:
[1] 4012 (or some number)
Warning: XimpProtocol: SelectionEvent Clear received.
Now, I really don't know what that means except that it's not zero! WHen I press enter again (because it won't show me the #), it says:
[1] -Done kinput2 -wnn -xim
and then gives me my wonderful #, however of course, the shift-space, which is supposed to start the input program, doesn't work. I don't know how else to fix it so if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them!
