iso is downloading as a text file icon instead of a disc icon
I am using mint 19. I want to go back to 18.3 (everything is sporadically slower with occasional freezes and irresponsiveness since using 19 for the past week.
I tried 3 times to download mint 18.3 from 3 different mirrors on the mint official site. ( mirrors i've used before )
Each time the iso downloaded with a text file icon instead of a disc icon.
It is named correctly and the properties are the same as they would be for a disc icon iso,(file size) but it is not recognised as a iso.
When attempting to verify the download, the system does not recognize that there is any iso file.
I've downloaded multiple iso's in the past and never seen this.
What's going on here?
-------------------------
I downloaded another iso, this time LMDE.
The same thing, no disc image.
I did install it on a usb, then booted it and it works normally, however it was still not recognized as existing when i attempted to verify it in the terminal.
It is not a problem with the mirrors on the mint page. It is something in my system.
I downloaded UUi and Unetbootin with the intention of seeing if it would download the iso with the disc image, but after downloading these 2 programs, neither of them would run, there was no response when i tried to.
I have downloaded various things since using mint 19 over the past week since i installed it without problem, just these to programs and the iso image issue.

Reason: extra info
if you are using Linux use dd to burn it to a usb stick, then try booting it, if it fails then it is something wrong with this iso. else it is the system not knowing what a iso file is for whatever its reasons. if you're using Windows then try torrents to get it. even on linux, it is still going to have a chsum no matter what it is. check that too.
