is it to late?

i installed RH7.2 , and left 20gb unpartitioned on the hd
is it still possible to set it to fat32 ? maybe to install win2k on it, or just copy some files to it.

my second hd has windows98 on it .windows just crapped out on me , and i need to get my work stuff(ProE files) off one of the partitions ! Thinkin if i had windows on last partition of my RH hardrive i could copy these files from disk to disk.

you should be fine to just use cfdisk, or even dos fdisk to create a partition on it no problem, then format it however you wish

You should be able to get win2k on it. Sounds like you the wiped the drive then laid down rh7.2 if this is the case then you will NOT be able to get win9x on the remaining free space. win2k should gather the free space and be able to place itself on that. Then comes the issue of the boot process. <joy> You will probably have to manually configure lilo to get it to boot to win2k (need more info to help you out there). However, if win2k's boot loader takes over, not sure what to tell you, other that good luck.

# mkdir /mnt/win98
# mount -t umsdos /dev/hdbX /mnt/win98 -o nosuid,noexec
where hdb X is the partition number try using
# fdisk -l /dev/hdb
to get that info

If you're using RedHat 7.2 use Grub as the bootloader and it will be able to load Win2k also and should not need any major tweaking.
