Read the docs to be sure.
There's dvd+r and dvd-r being slightly different formats. The disks are sold separately. If it's saying dvd+r, by implication it does not do dvd-r. I presume the same applies to dvd+rw & dvd-rw. I think (_think_) even the writers are a tad different, but they can all read each other's stuff. It used to be the case that +r was more common because it was easier, and some drives/software definitely didn't do -r.
