iPod and Ubuntu

I have a 40G Fat32 iPod and I am running Ubuntu Hoary Hedgehog.

What is the best program to download for the iPod? I used gtkpod in my previous distros and I would really like to find a new one (plus, whenever I go to the root terminal and enter "apt-get install gtkpod" it says it cannot find the package). What exactly should I type into the root-terminal and exactly what actions should I perform?

Can anyone help a complete doofus like me? Thanks....

No problem,

The "problem" with Ubuntu is that the original repository only contains a relative small amount pf packages. Also the "no-root account" is a bit irritating for some users.
