Install Suse on Ipod and boot from Ipod???

Hello all,

I was wondering if you can install Linux (Suse perhaps) on an Apple Ipod and boot from it. I heard people using pendrives to boot linux and i thought it would be really cool to have a 20Gb mp3 player that could also do the same thing.

If that is possible then I would definitely and finally be persuaded on buying one.

can anyone pls give me advise? what about those Creative 20Gb mp3 players? are they also capable of having linux on them?

ipod

I read somewhere that this can be done, think it was yellow dog that was going to sell ipods with linux on it or something.

Also, apparently the drive in the iPod isn't good for continuous read/writes its only designed for bust read/write, so i guess running linux off it would kill it pretty quick

maybe its worth a go though

thanks pete.

I just read issues on 4th generation ipods on linux. looks like people are having a hard time mounting them. if it also wouldn't work on my system then i would just be wasting my money on something I can't use, so its really quite a dilemma.

I think I need to research some more. if anyone has any more knowledge about this. pls do help.
