Installing Linux 7.1 and windows Me .

Hi Every Body,
I am trying to install linux7.1 and windows Me ( dual boot) on a dell L series pc. It has 20 Gb hdd and Intel Celeron 700 cpu.
I partitioned the hard disk using fdisk(dos) and created a primary dos partition of 4 Gb, and extended Dos partition of 10 Gb ( and two logical partitions in it of 5 Gb each). I left the rest of 6 Gb unformatted and unpartitioned for linux.
Then i booted from the linux 7.1 cd and when i tried to make a /boot partition i got an error message. " The number of cylinders is 2482 which is greater than 1024".
Can anybody explain what is this problem and what exactly do i need to do to over come this problem.
Thank you.

OK, this question has been asked at least 4 times so far this month. Please just search this message board for an answer, you'll find many

What's wrong is that you have to install linux in the first 8.4gb of your drive. Get a newer version if you want to isntall it anywhere

Oh and btw Linux 7.1 doesn't exist... i presume you mean redhat.

WinMe and RH7.x

This needs to be worked through carefully as WinMe is fussy about people touching the MBR (master boot record), and you need to use GRUB as lilo won't do it with big disks.

Please have a look
here.
