Installing Kopete

I downloaded Kopete from the Internet. But Now I don't know how to install it. I'm running mandrake 9.1. SO far I downloaded the file and extract it to a folder whic is called kopete-0.7.2. I need step by step instructions since I'm a newbie at this.

if the folder contains lots of files including one called "configure"
then
open a terminal
cd to the folder and type
./configure
then type
make
then su to root
and type
make install

It will be better if you download the rpm file for mandrake. It is easier to install it that way

all u have to do is:
login as root and type the following:
rpm -ivh name_of_the_file.rpm

and the tun run Kopete just type
kopete

I would sugguest you try "gaim" is better than kopete
