Installing Flash player on OpenSuse 11.2

When I try to upload the photos to my gallery, the dpreview.com says:
Quote:
Adobe Flash required
In order to upload images you need Adobe Flash Player. You have either an older version or no version at all. You can get the latest version on
I downloaded the RPM from the Suse website: http://software.opensuse.org/search?...ude_debug=true
Code:
linux-uitj:/home/anisha/tarBalls # rpm -i flash-player-10.0.32.18-3.1.1.i586.rpm
        package flash-player-10.0.32.18-3.1.1.i586 is already installed
linux-uitj:/home/anisha/tarBalls # updatedb
/usr/bin/find: `/home/anisha/.gvfs': Permission denied
linux-uitj:/home/anisha/tarBalls #
The problem persists, help.

EDIT:
Now I realize, perhaps they mean that no other flash player than adobe will work

So now downloaded the plugin ffrom the Adobe website: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Code:
linux-uitj:/home/anisha/tarBalls # rpm -i flash-plugin-10.2.152.27-release.i386.rpm
linux-uitj:/home/anisha/tarBalls # updatedb
/usr/bin/find: `/home/anisha/.gvfs': Permission denied
linux-uitj:/home/anisha/tarBalls #
The problem STILL persists, help.

Can you type
Code:
about:plugins
in the Firefox address bar? This will list all installed plugins. Are Flash or Gnash listed? If so, what version?

Ok, Flash is not enabled in Firefox. Did you try the 1-click install on http://software.opensuse.org/search?...ude_debug=true ?

If that doesn't work, please try
Code:
zypper install flash-player-10.0.32.18-3.1.1.i586.rpm

Why do you ask me to do that? I installed the SAME RPM through the rpm -i command, see post 1.

You should have used YaST to install, it would have enabled it.

I have messed up something with "open with yast", it doesn't open it now. that is a seperate problem anyways. Should I restart the computer, that'll help perhaps.

Yes, but zypper takes care of dependencies while rpm does not.

But if there would have been any dependencies, the terminal would have shown me then and there itself!

It may not have a dependency problem, could be a desktop configure problem, just get Firefox to recognize it.

I clicked the mozilla.org from the about : plugins page and reached here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7

I clicked the Flash player from the above link and it resulted in the same page from which I had downloaded the rpm in the OP

I followed the doc now: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/linux.html#Flash
and copied:
Code:
anisha@linux-uitj:~> sudo cp /usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/
root's password:
anisha@linux-uitj:~> locate flashplayer.xpt
anisha@linux-uitj:~>
What to do about flashplayer.xpt?

The newest versions of the flash player for linux don't use the .xpt file anymore. There is only the .so.

Kind regards

But still problem persists, the aboutlugins page shows nothing! I restarted the computer too, is there anything else that I can provide?
