Installing a getty on /dev/hvc0

Hi all,
I am trying to use Lguest(hypervisor of linux kernel) of the first time, on ubuntu 10.04 with kernel version 2.6.32.33. One of the instructions of the running operations is: "Make sure that you install a getty on /dev/hvc0 if you want to log in on the console!".
Does anyone understands what this means? How do I install a getty?
By the way, /dev/hvc0 is not present in my system, do I need to create it?

Thank you and best regards

Evi

Getties are usually started up from the init process. I'm not sure whether ubuntu still uses /etc/inittab file but I would try adding a line like this to it:
Code:
0:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 hvc0

Ubuntu 10.04 has changed to upstart.

For samples how to start getty see files /etc/init/tty?.conf.

I'd guess so. getty will not create it AFAIK. Sorry, don't know how to do it.
