I've got a Packard Bell 1407 2.93ghz, 160+80gb hd.
I set the system to boot from the DVD drive. I then insert the Fedora 3 first CD into the drive and reboot.

Fedora 3 screen appears and I choose a GUI installation.

It proceeds to starting ANACONDA..
then hangs after the following..
"Running install"
"Running/sbin/loader".. by now it's hung.

It can't be the software.. it worked on another (GateWay 500mhz) machine.

Any help would be appreciated, and if necessary would be reciprocated for in kind with windows based web-video advice.

Use the text based install. This may be a video issue, in it's attempt to start the gui based install. If so, it might sort itself out later in the process, or you may have to tweak the video driver yourself. The "other" machine likely had a video card that was immediately recognized.
