Sometimes, when I log in to MEPIS, I receive the message:

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device: default can't be opened for playback (Input/output error)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.
Most of the time however, the message will not appear, and I will have sound.

It occurs after booting, when I login for the first time. If I then login/out that won't change if it works or not. If it did immediately after boot it will, if not not but the message will be displayed again.
