Inconsistent crashing of tv programs

I had problems with xawtv crashing (and freezing the whole system) as soon as I moved the window in anyway at all under gnome. I gave up trying to fix this and recently installed fluxbox. Under fluxbox xawtv seams pretty stable it has only crashed once.

I recently installed xawdecode this crashes (and locks up my system) after a few seconds (even under fluxbox) although I can load it and then close it straight away.

This is xawdecode 1.6.7 running on Linux/i686 (2.4.20-9).

Any other info you require just tell me what you need to know... I would really like to get xawdecode working on my system!

Not that anyone helped me here but :(

I figured out what my problem was... I had selected the wrong tuner in /etc/modules.conf

For all those people out there who are having problems with xawtv crashing their linux check your tuner... I wish someone had told me before but it took me a month to figure this out! Maby I am just slow.
