IMAP Mail: thunderbird stuck on "Loading Message" screen, in windows, outlooks works.

This happens every day to me on several computers.

I use Lubuntu on my computers and Thunderbird for email. I use imap with my server (a windows server running smarter mail). Almost everytime I open my mail and new messages come in, I can't get those new messages. It just says Loading Message. no errors are reported. If I just close thunderbird and then reopen it, suddenly and magically, I can view those new messages.

I have several computers setup and they all are exactly the same.

Now, I have a vm running windows and it has outlook on it. I really don't use it, but since I have this issue, I tested it with outlook. Outlooks works perfectly.

I have checked the smartermail logs on my server, I know, it's windows, but there are no errors of any sort reported.

Also, I have tried evolution for email and it's just like thunderbird. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thank you

Yes, a few, but I have had them disabled for a while and still get this issue.

Have you tried a new profile to see if the problem persists?

close Tbird.
Terminal >
Code:
thunderbird -ProfileManager
use the same IMAP configuration settings as the "other" profile giving you grief...

Please let me know...

Actually, I did three lubuntu fresh installs and this is identical on each one. All new profiles if you think about it.

However, as I said before, outlook in windows and then my android phone don't have an issue. I'm hoping there is some magic setting I can switch to fix this.

I've tried changing the "keep messages for this account on this computer" setting but it doesn't change anything.

Any other ideas?

all lubuntu.... hmmz....that's interesting.
Tried any other distros that are NOT ubuntu spins, or a lesser version of Tbird maybe?
