That sounds bad . Try running as root, it will ask you if it's ok to download. Let it download. It could be that you need root access to install the package. Although, I doubt it

I will see if I remember my password for that . I had only one person in that list, so I never really used it. Anyway, I'm most of the time on IRC:

/server freenode
/join #justlinux

I am always changing my nickname though. MegaManX, AlucardTepez and XelaImor are the ones I use...I cannot decide which one to stick with, lol.

Angry Another Newbie trying to install AMSN

Hi Guys

I´m also trying to install AMSN, and am having difficulties.

I downloaded the installer, and the program placed itself in /opt/amsn-0.92-2. I tried to ./amsn and got the following :

Quote:
/usr/bin/env: wish: No such file or directory
I´m pretty sure the TLS is installed.

Thanks in advance

R :-)

Read the HELP file in the MSN directory, use less HELP, I believe that amsn requires both tcl and tk to run, this is what the error is referring to, it also gives you a link to the sourceforge site. If you are using apt or yum just look for the tcl and tk rpms, should also be on your CDs.

I´m pretty sure the tcl installed with my Redhat install(bluecurve I think)

I was also told to download tls1.4, which I did, but what do I do with it?

What is apt or yum (I´ve been using Linux about 16 Hours now....)

Thanks again

At a command line issue the following commands:

whereis tcl
whereis tk

If both show up they are installed. If not you will need to install them.

Go here and download apt http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrpms/redhat/9/apt/
then su to root and issue the command rpm -ihv apt*, in the directory where you downloaded the file to. Once you have apt downloaded then issue the following command as root apt-get update, apt-get install synaptic. Then logout of your user account and log back in now when you go in the Red Hat menu under I believe tools you will see synaptic, click on this and you can install any program that is in the list and all dependencies will be installed also. I use yum but starting out try this, plus you will want a highspeed line since all programs are downloaded from the internet.

you probably also need the tk package also. i'd suggest getting the same version of tk that you have for tcl. you shouldn't have any problem finding tk packages on google.

edit: nevermind... glad you got amsn working.

Hello all,
Im following instructions on how to install amsn and I think I got stock in the part after extracting the tar files.
Ok, I located all the tcl files, I see all of them in the msn directory but I can make the amsn to run. I tried the run program tool of gnome redhat 8.0; I tried the terminal; I tried double click it ; I tried ./amsn .....and nothing is working.
Can you help me please??
