Yeah, I can help. It's easy

The only thing that's weird about it is... do you remember that mplayer folder that you installed mplayer with? The one that you did the ./configure and the make and make install in? Well you need to go back into that folder (if you don't have it anymore, redownload the mplayer from their website) and just type "make uninstall". It will then remove it from the computer

If you had to redownload the mplayer again from their website, you will have to run the configure and make just like you did before so that the make uninstall command will work.

If you are on slackware you probably installed it as an rpm - just deinstall this via your package management-system.
Deleting the file by hand would leave the management system still thinking that the package is installed while it is not there any more - this could lead to very confusing and hard to track down problems.

If you compiled and installed it from source - go to the source-tree again and "make uninstall"

Else you will have to find out where it is (probably /usr/local/...) and remove all the files by hand - take care of the libraries and header-files too, in that case.

If you compile things yourself, I suggest you use the checkinstall tool. Or if you feel adventurous, you can try the GoboLinux distribution. Any of those two solutions will help you keep your system clean.

Yves.
