How to unblock Gtalk!

Hi ...

I am behind my university's proxy server and have been using gaim as my client to connect to gtalk ...
but recently due to some strange reason gtalk was blocked ... ( though we are still able to talk chat through gmail (strange! ) )

Now while setting up gaim to connect to gtalk i used talk.google.com as the connect server ...
I then thought that since most of the blocking is done by blocking domain names ... so putting the ip address of talk.google.com as connect server would help ( but unfortunately it didnt )

Obviously since the ip didnt work ... it means that ip's are blocked too...

Is there any other way to bypass this blocking ... ?
We have a squid running as our proxy server (maybe this might help... )

Thanks in advance
