My google searches have turned up nothing and the debian doc about it didn't tell me more than that I had to edit a file with "xscreensaver start" but that didn't work.
So which file do I have to edit with which command to get xscreensaver to work at boot. I think the daemon has to run after x login cause I'm using debian and I get an display error if I run a program as another user than the one that is logged in. So it means the command has to be something with restart for when I login as another user
depends what your running inside X and how your logging in. personally i ru fluxbox, and just run "startx" to load X. on this setup, i would put "xscreensaver &" into ~/.xinitrc you could also place it in ~/.xsession. these are low level files for X, kde, gnome whatever would hve additional higher level alternatives.
In that final line in your .xinitrc, I believe you need to add "exec" to the front, like so:
exec xscreensaver &
I would put it after your "exec startkde" statement, but that is a matter of preference. If your .xinitrc can't find the xscreensaver command (and you are sure that it is installed), it is probably just a path issue and you would need to specify the full path to the xscreensaver executable.
Well as you might not have seen the last post was on 26 spetember last year I put in my .xinitrc file and it was ok cause I don't use sessions I think. Thanks anyway though
