How to make gnome support 1024x768?

Windows supports up to 1600x1024, yet gnome-display-properties only shows up to 1024x768.

XFREE config shows the following; any ideas on how to fix this and get screen res larger?

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "unknown"
ModelName "unknown"
#Option "DPMS" "true"
HorizSync 30.0 - 82.0 # Warning: This may fry old Monitors
VertRefresh 50.0 - 70.0 # Very conservative. May flicker.

Well, what type of video card do you have and what is it configured as?

And what type of monitor is it and are those the correct horizontal and verticle refresh rates for your monitor?

I doubt those are correct though, usually vertical refresh rates range from 50 to 180.. not just 50 - 70.. etc, etc.

More and better details get better replies and answers.

You mentioned an nVidia GeForce card. Do you have the latest driver from nVidia? If not, download it from http://www.nvidia.com/linux.

Hope that helps
