How to install Firefox 2.0.0.5 on Ubuntu Linux 6.06
I really do not understand a thing. On the mozilla site, there is no documentation on this. On googling, there were various way to install, but none had succeed either permission denied (Even using ROOT account??!!!) or simply failed(Did not work as expected because once you open the file, it will load for seconds then auto close it.)
I have a 1.2 GHz Duron, 319MB Ram. Should have about 20% of HDD space (About 1GB+). Why I still cannot install??
You may wish to install Firefox for convenience, but it's not necessary to install to get it to work (if it's going to work at all on your system). Once you've unpacked the archive (it doesn't matter where), just cd to the directory that was created when the archive was unpacked. Do "ls" and you'll see an executable file "firefox". Execute it, with "./firefox". Now the program should start up.
