How to install Dupeguru in Linux Mint?

I have Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa Cinnamon.

I already have FSlint installed but want to try any other duplicate file finders with a GUI also.

Dupeguru is not in the Software Manager, which installs programs with just a click, so how do I install it please?

I would be grateful for line-by line detailed instructions as Linux is still a mystery to me.

Thanks.

Hi:

It looks like dupeguru is available at Git Hub:-

https://www.hardcoded.net/dupeguru/

https://github.com/hsoft/dupeguru

Download the zip file to whatever directory you want than to unzip the file open the terminal and run:

Code:
unzip dupeguru-master.zip
Read the READMe file in order to learn how to build it:-

According to the docs there, dupeguru isn't maintained any more. The latest binary versions provided are for Ubuntu (Trusty and Xenial). They would probably not be compatible with the libraries on any version of Mint. So if you still want it, I'd advise building it locally.

The procedure seems to be simple: just make and make run.

Compiling it would be far too difficult for me.

However it is available as a "PPA", although I only have a vague idea of what a PPA is.

How do I install the PPA please? I think Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa Cinnamon corresponds to Ubuntu Trusty.

Thanks.

If you had googled, you could easily have found out that PPA stands for Personal Package Archive. And if you had googled that, you would have found something like this.

It all looks very complicated to me, far more so than just building it yourself from source.
