how to find ip in mandrake linux


is there a way to find your wan-ip out on mandake..plz

yeah i heard that be for but i dont know how to get the shell up sorry 4 being so dum lol

just find something in your KDE or gnome menu called a shell, terminal, or console. It might be called something like Konsole or Xterm or something else.

you also have to issue the command as root user.

Just typing ifconfig won't work, first cd to sbin and then do ifconfig. (works as normal user for me)

But you can also find your ip in Mandrake Control Center (Network & Internet).

on my computer under Manrake 9.2, if i'm logged in as a user i have to cd to sbin cause it's not in my $PATH, but if i change to root i can type ifconfig from any directory cause /sbin is in my path. so i guess either way would work
