over the years I collected many mails with Eudora, Mozilla Mail and lately Ximian Evolution but some mails got doubled in the migration processes and I'm somehow not able to use Ximian Evolution in a way that my mails are filtered correctly.
Somehow all filtered mails are doubled each time but the mails I want to be in the certain subfolders aren't there.
Anyway this is not a complaint about this program, I wanna skip back to Mozilla mail but have trouble reimporting them because I have about 6000 mails which are in average about 1500 different ones.
So I concatted all the mbox-files evolution created together and now I'm looking for a program that find the duplicates and erases them.
So far Google didn't bring up any help and neither Ximian Evolution nor Mozilla Mail have this feature.
You could create a script in Perl or Python ( or another PL ) to do that. It's not that hard. Probably you could find some examples on the net for scripts that can be easily adapted to your particar needs.
Softaken mbox duplicate remover tool is user friendly tool and support various mbox programme. This software helps to remove duplicate items from the mbox files.

Basically you copy one file to another, mail by mail, while keeping a list of Message-IDs. Any ID that is already present in the list shall not be copied.
I am not using mbox, notably because of the complication it adds to this kind of procedure, which, in themselves, are simple.
