Question Script to remove old emails in a user's mailbox

I am working on writing a script to scan for each user's mailbox and remove email which is old. The problems encountered are mainly how to actually browse through the mailbox and check that the email is really old.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

I frequent (if once a month can be considered frequent) the trade rag, linux-mag.com. They have some very very helpful articles.
