how to create softlink from liblo.so.0.4.0 to liblo.so.0.5.0
Hi. I'm trying to install Smack, The drum machine. deps are needed, om and omins. Om is continually throwing up errors, that it needs liblo.0.22. Fc2 & FC3 have only liblo.0.18 . I installed the tarball for liblo.0.22, and it has put this in /usr/local/lib, and I also have in /usr/local/pkgconfig the file liblo.pc which is shown to be for liblo.0.22. Om will still not configure, complaining it can't find liblo.0.22. All the ln -s I try seem to keep saying "File exists' . I have created links for directories, but not for files, and am not sure if the syntax is different. I also copied the file liblo.so.0.5.0 which I presume is liblo.0.22 to /usr/lib . Here I have 3 liblo files plus the one I've just copied to /usr/lib . I have liblo.so , which has a link to, liblo.so.0 , which is a link to, liblo.so.0.4.0 ( which I'm sure is liblo.0.18). I need to create a link from liblo.so.0.4.0 to liblo.so.0.5.0 , which is, since I copied it there, in the same directory. Any help really appreciated. Nigel. aka farpoint.
Not sure if doing this will really result in the app really working (I mean tricking it into believing that a file is really another as the libraries are going to be different), but anyway
You should delete liblo.so.0.4.0 and then (from the directory they should both be in) do :
# ls -s ./liblo.so.0.5.0 liblo.so.0.4.0
That will create a 'new' liblo.so.0.4.0 which is really a link to liblo.so.0.5.0
Hi. Thanks for the reply and the help. I've got a bit further, but now it's complaining about needing gtkmm2.4, but FC2 only has gtkmm2 (2.2.9-1.rhfc2.ccrma) . I think I'll just wait until Fernando at planetccrma has the time to set uo Smack as an rpm, installable with apt-get with all deps covered. Please don't think I'm backing out on this, but I've just spent nearly 3 days struggling with Smack. Muchas Grazias. Nigel. aka farpoint.
De nada (you're welcome) Installing ccrma on fc4 is still a little tricky. I've been looking into it and decided to wait. Just hope the wait is not too long anymore...
