How to compile?

I am trying to compile & install ndiswrapper while following the instructions but when I cd to ndis directory and type (as root) "make distclean" or even "make" I get told that there is no such command.

If the make command is not found, then it means that you probably need to install the development tools from your distros installation discs or software repositories.
