How do I set a symlink?

Hi all!!
I'm new on Linux and on this list, so I turns out that I posted a message incorrectly, so here it goes again.

I'm trying to install some tools in LINUX and I get the following message:

Please set a symlink to /usr/bin/perl in /usr/local/bin/perl and rerun installation.

Can somebody explain to me how do I do this? do I need to move to the directory /usr/local/bin/perl ?

no you dont have to move the directory. it is just that you have to set a path reference.

cd /usr/local/bin/perl

ln -s /usr/bin/perl perl
