how do i know this software packages is already installed in my suse linux(2.6.4-52)

In order to compile Bluetooth utilities you need following software packages:
- Linux Bluetooth protocol stack (BlueZ)
- GCC compiler
- D-Bus library
- USB library
- Lexical Analyzer (flex, lex)
- YACC (yacc, bison, byacc)

i'm trying to study linux and recently i need to use the bluetooth. from the net,i have download some bluez sofrware [bluez-utils and bluez-libs].but some errors appeared when i installed.some content of the README file of bluez-utils is as above. i am considering if some of the software packages lacks.BUT when i install the linux system,i have chose the full installation in case some emergency.

thank u for helping me solve the problem

Currently, I am very unsure what is the nature of your problem. Just saying "some errors appeared" does not really narrow it down ;-)

To obtain the full list of all packages installed, open a terminal window and type
Code:
rpm -qa

Hi zkeileen
Judging from the 2.6.4-52 kernel version, it seems that you have installed Suse Linux 9.1 release.
But I think it is too old a version, with it you will not be able to use many recent versions of most programs.
For example, I don't think you will be able to install the dbus and hal packages needed by many new packages.
You should first try to get a newer version of Suse (>10) or of another distribution like Ubuntu or Fedora.
I think it is a necessity, for you to have a better experience with Linux at this time. So let that be your first priority, to find and install a current release of a Linux distribution.
I truly hope that you find one where you are.
Regards.

It's much better yes, because the Suse Linux 10.0 is supported yet by Novell.
The last release 10.2 would be even better if it's possible for you to get it (I think a kernel version >=2.6.16 is preferable presently)
See OpenSuse 10.2
See also http://wiki.suselinuxsupport.de/
(the forum can give many infos to you)
But a 10.0 release correctly updated can be enough for your studies.
I wish all the best for you in the Linux open world.
