Just tried to install SUSE 10.0 OSS enclosed with LinuxFormat magazine.
Currently I have Mandriva 2006 installed from DVD which installed with no problems.
Booting from SUSE DVD went fine up to the point where the installation program tries to find the software packages: it cannot find any: little bit strange since they should be on the same DVD.
What ever option I choose in partitioning, new or update system, it persists in "no software packages found".
Please advise!
I'm a user of Linux and certainly not an expert so plse treat me as a newbie.
My AMD system has 2 harddrives, one for XP, one for Mandriva. 1 cd player (hdc) and 1 dvd recorder (hdd).
It cannot find any packages, or it cannot find some packages? As I recall, the distribution they supplied is not 100% complete, although they do use the "standard" installation. Therefore, some things called for by the installation will not be there. (I recall GNOME was missing or something like that.) My guess is that you can add/upgrade everything through YaST, though.
PS: This is only my best guess. It would be best to go over to the Linux Format forums and ask there.
