goto http://www.winehq.com/ downloads pick the right rpm or tar for your distro...and download it.
lets say you dled the rpm to /home/YOUR-USER/Docs/wine-123487394.rpm
you would then open a terminal and type the following...
Code:
cd ~/Docs
su
(ENTER ROOT PASSWORD)
rpm -Uvh wine-123487394.rpm
exit
wine
that will set up your installation of wine for you!

then to use wine
Code:
wine "/Path-To-Windows-Executable.exe"
Just to warn you b4 you get too exited about wine. It's prolly not gonna do what your thinking it will do lol.
with the freely distrobuted version of wine youll be limited to basic windows progs like notepad maybe Photoshop and Half-Life...
Check this out to see if your apps are supported...remember that these listings include WineX and Crossover which are not free.

uhh... maybe i should have been more precise. It tells me that there is a failed dependency. /lib/i686/libc.so.6 WTF does that mean?!

Usually it means that you need to install the package that contains that file. Does /lib/i686/libc.so.6 exist? If not, go and install the package.

Run 'rpm -ivv <FILENAME.rpm>'. This will give a lot more detailed error information and will tell you what you need to do.

zakaluka.

Wine will run a lot more apps than some people give it credit for just takes a bit of time and effort to get there sometimes.

it just says that the file is missing, and using -ivv didn't help

It could be that the rpm you're trying to install is not meant for your distribution (or it wasn't created properly). If that's not the case, if I were you, I'd check the '/lib/i686/' dir for other libc.* files and make a symbolic link named 'libc.so.6' pointing to one of the files you do have (experiment -- try them one by one) -- just a suggestion from another newbie (i.e. I'm not liable if anything goes wrong

Get the tarball, unpack it, move to the directory and type:
Code:
./tools/wineinstall
