How do I determine which video driver to use

I'm running Kubuntu 7.04 on an old AMD Duron white box with an NVIDIA Vanta LT video card. Tried the nvidia-glx and nvidia-legacy drivers but they didn't work. Did find an Nvidia driver archive site listed below, but don't have a clue which of the many drivers to try. Anyone have any idea? Thanks.

Do an "lspci" and copy the nvidia card line here.
http://www.nvidia.com/page/vanta.html
... that vanta uses TNT architecture.

Linux drivers supporting TNT and TNT2 are in the nvidia-glx-legacy package. If installing that package with apt dosn't work, give up.

Cannot find the product on the driver support page but nvidia list the vanta as a legacy technology.

Note: reviews are bad if you want compiz, this card won't cope.
