How can i see the windows partition???

Hi i am using Mandrake 8, in a partitioned hard drive. The first partition has WinXP and the second Mandrake8. the problem is that i cannot see the windows partition when i am logged in Linux. i know that in Mandrake 9, the windows partition can be seen and accessed from /mnt/win. If its the first partition on you primary harddisk you can properbly mount the windows partition with:
mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /your-choice

But this requires that your windows partition isn't ntfs.
