help with sound in slackware 10

i have a ac97 with cmedia chipset... instaled the driver but no sound... the pcm it's stuck at 0%... Simple mixer control 'PCM',0
Capabilities: pswitch pswitch-joined
Playback channels: Mono
Mono: Playback [on]
not muted...
