Help installing V.I.M

OK,

This is not just about V.I.M but lets start there. I am new to the whole linux os and I love it with I would of "divorced" windows earlier. I have unbuntu which I enjoy. Here is the problem I have perl and python on my computer and I was trying to download vim but I don't know how so if someone could help me that would be great.

Next I would like to get involved in some groups and forums so if you know some good ones please let me know

And finally I am an avid gamer so if you could direct me to some good games please do so

Thanks
gnosis

well vi is nearly always preinstalled, and is actually, more often than not, vim not the real vi itself. i'm sure ubuntu installs it by default, if not it'll be in apt (synaptic) for you, no need to compile it

groups? find your nearest LUG, and forums... that'll be us... the largest general purpose Linux forum in the world!

Is vim not in your package (software) list?

Ubuntu forums: http://www.google.com/search?client=...utf-8&oe=utf-8

Ubuntu games: http://www.google.com/search?client=...utf-8&oe=utf-8

This is a good place to start learning about adding software to your Ubuntu: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Edgy

I don't know where you are located, but here is a list of GNU/Linux groups in the UK: http://www.lug.org.uk/lugs/index.php
