Question gtk-config problem


i have problem compiling some programs, which needs gtk-config.


i am running suse 10.1 and have installed gtk2-devel 2.8.10-36, but when i compile some appz some of them complain about missing gtk-config. i searched for it, but it is non-existent

how can i solve this?

I think that gtk-config is part of the old gtk+-1.x and it doesn't exist in gtk+-2.x. So you have to install also that version of gtk, which is used by many apps (xmms to name one)

when i try to install it i get this:

Transaction failed: Transaction failed: Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Public.ZenException: Package gtk-1.2.10-907 is already installed.

...and i can't find corresponding devel package. i was at gtk website but i can't work out what to download, can you please write me which package(s) do i need?

If you're using Suse you should let yast install the packages, so it can resolve any dependancies. As for the missing gtk-config in my Suse 9.2 it's part of the gtk-devel. You can d/l it from here if cannot find it with yast.

thanks a lot, it worked even through ZEN i couldn't find it in yast, and on install dvd i found only gtk package not devel package.

now everything is fine, thanks again
