Gnumeric toolbar removal

Seasoned Eatings, Everyone.

How do I remove a toolbar from Gnumeric. I am using 1.2.13-6, the version that came with
Fedora Core 3. The documentation says that this can be done by pulling up the toolbar context
menu, but when I do this, the only options I get concern whether I want icons, text, or both.
In other words, the documentation does not correspond to the software. Several sources on
the web corobborate the documentation, in other words, they are wrong too. Previously I used
a pre-1.0 version of gnumeric, and it was easy to get rid of an unwanted toolbar, but I haven't been
able to figure this version out. Also, when removing the sheet tab from the bottom of the window,
it comes back when I restart Gnumeric. Is there a way to get rid of it permanently, or is this
just a bug? Also, is there a way to hide the status bar also?

Thanks, and Merry Christmakwanzaakah,

Ken.
