Gnome3 Tweaks and Extensions

I would like to share my thoughts about the gnome3.
In case someone searching on the web that is looking for a solution.

It took me a long time to tame Gnome3, coming from the comfort of CentOS6 Gnome2.

First thing. If gnome3 is the default, why would any one need to google
the web to find the one app called
Tweaks that could be used to do the customization of the desktop? Should not it be installed
by default when I installed Linux/Gnome3?
This is question 1. I just tried a new ubuntu (since my CentOS7 has a lower
version of Gnome3) and indeed I need to go to software center
to install Tweaks. Yes sure, I do agree
that Linux users are supposed to be smart to install what they need.

Second thing. I find the immense power of Tweaks -> Extensions -> Window list
only today after using for Gnome3 for a long long time. Before this the minimized icons are hidden and "moved around" all over the place and this was driving me crazy and depressed from time to time.
I was missing the good old Gnome2 today and did
a proper google search and boot into several Linux OS to finally locate it.
This is my second question 2: Why put in under Extension?
I see there is a Tweaks -> Windows but I think it is a more more natural
place to find Window list.
So this is question 2: Why put things under Extensions? As a normal user
of Gnome3, everything is an extension.

Now, I get back my workspaces, this is enable by Clicking on Extensions -> Horizontal workspaces!

It seems all the useful stuff is under Extensions (which is so easily missed!!!)
and they work well but the Gnome developers forgot to put these useful items
under "extensions" back to where they should belong?

This posts will remind myself that I have missed a big portion of the wonders of Gnome3 since I did not do proper homework since day 1 (but there were many battles to fight when I do a switch to gnome3. That hot key!!). But then I really had to spend a bit of time to tame Gnome3 for even the more basic stuff.

Just my thoughts at this moment.

The answer to both is that this is a well-known attitude of GNOME developers toward their users. Sadly. From the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines:
Quote:
Don't overwhelm people with too many elements at once.

If one goes down a wrong path (i.e., not that Tweaks way), then he will have to tame
dconf-editor or
learn gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock click-action 'minimize' (what???) just to tame a missing minimize-maximize windows problem.

Sadly I have suffered (and completely forgot these super weird syntax plus my habit of typos on command lines that add to an existing tonnes of
entropies/chaos)
these confusing paths at some point in my life and was not too impressed by them.

Too many ways to do the same basic things. But if we miss one just key step, we miss it for life.
