Gnome 2 or Ximian Gnome 2 Snapshots

This is my question, how much of a difference is there between the Ximian snapshots and Gnome 2 (which requires separte downloads of the libs) People say the Snapshots from Ximian are unstable. This is why I am curious to know the difference between the two. Because right now i am running the Ximian gnome 2 snapshots and I would appreciate anyone and everyone elses opinion on this matter

Also I downloaded all 60 files and i was wondering if there was a easy way of installing gnome 2 considering that you have to build 60 different files. Some websites like Ximian let you use the lynx or links command to get the software. Why doesn't Gnome have such a option? Is it mainly because of financial requirements?
