Question Gnome 2


How many of you out there have tried GNOME 2??

How did it feel?
What would you say are its pros and cons??

Buggy as hell, no sorry, too light explanation, buggy as windows...:
Ok, I compiled it my self and damn thing wont remember my settings, like I put new panel, icons, change backgroung and when i login again everything is gone....%$#%$&#/&/&/(%&/
Maybe someone had better luck

I've got no problems with saving the settings.
My opinion:
- REALLY GOOD LOOKING (especially with Anti Aliased fonts).
- Its usability is better
- Not really as fast as the older GNOME
- I'm not really pleased with the option of not being able to change window manager however I hvae read that this option will come in the next release.

(note: I did not compile it by myself as AxeZ. I got it with my Mandrale 9.0)

I haven't used the gnome2 desktop, but I'm currently running a bundle of gtk+2.0 apps. I really like gtk+2.0, all my apps look slick and such.

I dunno about running gnome in general, its just bloated.

Who said you can't change the Window manager? Try using the GConf editor...
