Getting MIDI to work in Noteworthy Composer

Hello,

I am very new to Linux. I have Mint 16 installed and installed my music editing program, Noteworthy Composer, through Wine. Everything is great, except the MIDI function does not work and I cannot hear what I am entering. I read through some of the very old (ancient!) postings about this issue, but none of them help me.

Is there anyone out there using Noteworthy Composer under Linux who can help me get my MIDI playing?

Thanks,

Patrick

It looks to me like you are missing a MIDI synthesiser. Try installing FluidSynth or, if your package manager doesn't have that, search for 'midi synthesiser' or 'midi synthesizer'. I am not very familiar with Wine but that should work.

Failing that, you could run Windows in a virtual machine using VirtualBox or VMware and install NoteWorthy Composer within that. You would require a fairly powerful computer, though.

Best regards,

No, I have Fluidsynth installed, but I get an error saying neither of its playback devices can be opened when I try to them as playback devices.

I just rebooted and now the Fluidsynth devices have disappeared. :-(

Unhappy

As I said, I don't use Wine so I can't offer any further advice.

Best regards
