getting midi to work

Kmid doesnt play sounds. I am trying to create a website for a class and I'm trying to embed midi sounds but they dont play in Slackware 10.2. Ran ALSACONFIG and other sounds play. Sounds play on a Windows Internet Explorer browser, not in Konqueror or Firefox. Any configuration suggestions?

first off, if i were your prof i would fail you just for
thinking of embedding midi on your page. that said, do you
have a midi capable soundcard or are you using timidity++?

midi Linux

I am a 45 year old who has just gone back to school after 20 years in the business world. I made the National Honor Society with 4.0 averages in my first 2 semesters back. My major is Computer Technology.If you choose to insult my intelligence by suggesting that I am a moron for embedding midi, fine, it is of far more benefit to me though if you were to say why you think I'm a moron, that is, why is embedding midi in a webpage not a good idea. That said, yes, my soundcard, a SoundBlaster Live, is capable of playing midi, and does play the embedded sounds fine when using Internet Explorer. The computer is capable of dual-booting Windows XP Professional or Slackware Linux 10.2.
Thanks....Howie

P.S. My prof did say background sounds were kind of annoying, probably not enough so to fail me though...hehe.

1) install awesfx
2) copy the soundfont(s) from your sblive cd
to your hdd. [eg /usr/share/midi]
3) use `asfxload /usr/share/midi/8MBGMSFX.SF2` to load it
[replace dir and font as needed]

or

1) install timidity++
2) install freepats [or equivalent]

p.s. methinks thou dost protest too much
