gdm was logged

I brought up my Fedora 8 box when the following entry in the messages file showed up....what is this telling me?

Quote:
gdm-binary[2297]: (null): cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I'm showing gdm (Gnome display manager) is already installed. So I run it and got this....

Quote:
# gdm-binary
gdm-binary[2948]: WARNING: GDM already running. Aborting!
GDM already running. Aborting!
#
So it's looking like I don't need to worry about this -- is that true? Why was it logged? Just curious.

If your graphics are working, don't worry about it. If your graphics don't work, worry about it.

As for what it means, it might be more apparent what's going on if you showed a few more lines before and after the error message you show here.

Graphics does work -- no problem there. I was just curious about that.

I'm not seeing much for gdm in the logs....All I show is what follows....

Quote:
Messages Log: gdm-binary[2277]: (null): cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Secure Log: gdm-binary[2342]: pam_unix(gdm:session): session opened for user toms by (uid=0)
The other entries shown near these are firewall blocks, SSHD, etc. They're not related to gdm, from what I can decypher.

Thanks!

Tom D.
