Yesterday i installed gdesklet applet..
now when i try to open this thing the following errors pop up
pritam@pritam-desktop:~$ gdesklets

ImportError: No module named gtk
i have gtk2 and python2.4 installed..
do i have to manually import them in the module??
this sounds a bit tough..
how can i solve this problem?????

And if your system have Compiz (component behind desktop effects) enabled, then you could use Screenlets too. They looked much nicer than gDesklets. Also you could try to install Google Gadgets too.

according to ur suggestion i tried to install
google-gadgets..
but it is dependent on libpango 1.20.5
i cannot find it on the internet

Ubuntu ships with a bit older version of libpango1.0-dev I think.
Anyway I just checked their instruction page and they've not mentioned such. Maybe some dependency depends in turn. Anyway, you have to build from source.
