gcc3.3.1


Hi All,

Need to install gcc 3.3.1 on RHEL 4.0

Please can I know from where can I download the gcc3.3.1 for RHEL4.0

I will also need the steps of installation for I am very new to Linux

Why that specific version? There are newer versions out. Here is a link to gcc-3.3.1, as to instructions, I'm sure there is a README in that archive. gcc-3.3 is a couple of stable release series ago, probably best to use something newer.

yea 3.3.4 is generally the accepted standard for libstdc++.so.5
you can find detailed directions for downloading and compiling gcc-3.3.4 as an extra compiler in
"beyond Linux from Scratch" book

Thanks for all the replies.

Still gcc3.3.1 is not installed properly. All the binaries are not installed. I downloaded it from the location & did ./configure

Once that got completed I typed make & lots of scripts ran.

Can anyone please suggest the correct steps of installation
