Have run Freecad appimage since v0.21 now v1.0.1 with no problems. Then I saw a appimagelauncher and downloaded it and got a FC icon on the dash for the first time, not a gear. But lost ability to save or open files. With either selection the directory window starts to open then the app freezes.
Tried deleting appimagelancher and some files mention in a post that needed to go. Sill not working.
All of this was done launching from a terminal.

Downloaded a second copy of v1.0.1and put it in a directory under my home files and launched from there and it had the same problem.

Downloaded a Weekly Build to the same directory it has no problems all directors are available. Both version are using the same config files.

If you're running Ubuntu, that does a lot of thinking for you. It follows that you're not really supposed to do too muych unofficial thinking. Please clarify how you installed stuff - direct download of solely using system tools?

I'd clean the system of all independent installations and run a purge I'm no apt expert buit I'd try 'sudo apt update; sudo apt autoremove' for starters. Then install the system Freecad with the system tools. Do this every time or you'll end up in a heap fairly quickly.

Using ./FreeCAD_1.0.1-conda-Linux-x86_64-py311.AppImage to launch.

Edit: I've been fighting this for a couple of weeks and getting no where.
Erased all appimages and reloaded FreeCAD_1.0.1-conda-Linux-x86_64-py311.AppImage to the /opt directory. All was well for a while then it started the same issue.
copied same FC to a directory under my user account started it in a teminal and it's working.

found this posting Here but its above my head, unable to understand what they are talking about.
