ut2003 cant play internet games. freeses at "querying master server"

hey guys....
ive never had any trouble with ut2003.
well, thats not true, the sound didnt work.. but after replacing the asound.o binary in the system directory with the one from ut2004, all worked great.

the only thing i did differently this time i installed the game, is to apply the 2225 patch straight away after installing. normally i would play online for a few days before patching.

anyways, when i click Play online / Lan game i get the usual screen, but on the news tab, it just stays "queerying master server"

normally, a few seconds after that, news text will apear, and tabs line Internet game DM team capture the flag... etc etc etc.

but now it just sits there, queerying master server.... and the only tabs available are LAN game etc.. no options for internet games.

is a main vital server down ?
has any one else had this trouble.

i can play online, but i have to search web pages for ser4vers IP address's and type them into the join LAN game section. i miss the whole list sorted in order of ping, and info on the running game etc.
has anyone else had this problem ?
any fixes ?

im 100% sure its not my firewall... ( i tried dissableing it, ALLOW all just incase. no improvement)

a quick serce on google surgests this is not a common bug.

thanX

My copy of UT is 1000% origonal.
paid for.....
correct id code.....

i have all the origonal disks.

however.... could replacing the asound library and adding custom maps make UT2003 think that it has been cracked ?

should i delete the new sound library and use the origonal broken one ?
migh that hepl ?

I am curious if you ever fixed this problem because now I am experiencing the same thing.
It was working fine a couple of weeks ago but not anymore.
My specs are as follows, Gentoo linux, Dual PIII 650 MHz, 1GB RAM, GeForce 3 w/64 MB RAM, 3Mbit Cable.
I have tried to run it under several different kernel configurations and versions with no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I got it figured out.
this link explains what to do.

http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums...hreadid=389752

The only difference is you have to change /home/username/.ut2003/System/UT2003.ini.

"Find this part:

[IpDrv.MasterServerLink]
LANPort=11777
LANServerPort=10777
CurrentMasterServer=0

you have the CurrentMasterServer=0
put 1 where the 0 is and u get: CurrentMasterServer=1"

Thanks to MedM from the atari forums for the answer!

the linux version has an updater program/script that will do it for you.
if you look under: your_ut2003_install_dir/updater
there is a file called loki_update
run it, it is pretty self explanatory from there.

yeah, the update script sucks....

Ok... here's how to install the UT200X patches.

download the ut2003 / ut2004 linux patches from www.ut2003.com

extract the file to a tempt folder like so
tar -xjf thePatch.tar.gz
now copy the contecnts of the extracted Patch into the ut200X install directory.
set the cp command to do a recursive copy, and over-write files.

cp -R --reply=yes /the/patch/folder /where/you/installed/ut200X

simple as that.
