Fluxbox Slit/Toolbar -- Iconify Windows?

For programs such as GAIM (Buddy List), XMMS, et cetera, I don't really require them to have a presence on my toolbar -- I am looking for a way to have them iconified, as they'd be on a Windows machine (generally next to the clock), or at the very least, somewhere other than my toolbar.

I tried using the slit (wmxmms was my trial), but when activiated, it just opened XMMS regularly, on the toolbar again.

Is there any way to have a particular window not load to the toolbar, or if not, only load as an Icon?

I just discovered that Azureus does exactly what I'm looking for -- upon minimize ("close"), it iconifies right next to the clock. Is this just something I've missed in all of my favorite programs, or have the programmers of Azureus just done me a favor?
